A Split-type air conditioner, commonly referred to as a split AC, is a type of air conditioning system that consists of two main components: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. It is called “split” because the two units are physically separated and connected by refrigerant lines and electrical wiring.
The indoor unit is typically installed inside the room or area that requires cooling. It consists of the evaporator coil, air filter, blower fan, and control panel. The evaporator coil cools the air as it passes over it, while the blower fan circulates the cooled air into the room.
The outdoor unit is installed outside the building or in an open space such as a balcony or rooftop. It contains the compressor, condenser coil, and fan. The compressor circulates and compresses the refrigerant, while the condenser coil releases heat from the refrigerant to the outdoor air.
Copper tubing or refrigerant lines connect the indoor and outdoor units. These lines carry the refrigerant between the two units, allowing for the transfer of heat and cooling.
The expansion valve is located within the indoor unit and regulates the flow and pressure of the refrigerant. It helps control the cooling capacity and efficiency of the system.
Split AC units are usually operated using a handheld remote control. The remote control allows users to adjust settings such as temperature, fan speed, mode (cooling, heating, dehumidification), and timer functions.
